COTTON BALMACAAN COAT
Do you know the great films of the French director Jacques Tati? Every shot is full of fantastic visual ideas, from the set designs, to the gags. But the inspiration Ramdane Touhami took from them is the shape of the coat the main character (played by Tati himself) is wearing, to do his own twist of the classic Balmacaan coat.
Actually 4 versions exist, each special in its own way.
This is the Cotton Balmacaan Coat by Die Drei Berge.
The fabric is a high-density chambray gabardine made from 60/2 cotton yarn.
It is yarn-dyed rather than piece-dyed, with different colors in the warp and weft, creating a rich depth of color.
It is also treated with a water-repellent finish.
The design appears to be a classic Balmacaan coat at first glance, but features a large inverted pleat on the back.
This detail is inspired by traditional Austrian loden coats and creates a beautiful A-line silhouette.
The cotton ombré check lining adds a subtle accent.
